By car, Paignton Avenue
is a bit of a navigate:-
From the west:
- From
the M27, head down the M275 and at the first exit take the second road
off (NOT the one that doubles back north) Kingston Crescent. At the
end, turn right into Kingston Rd.
- Take
the fifth right (New Rd) and follow this along, avoiding the dogleg
right.
- Turn
right into Milton Rd and up over the railway bridge (Copnor Bridge).
- Immediately
after the bridge there's a small turnoff into Dover Rd past a Bowling
Green.
- There's
a one-way system here so take the first right (Tangier Rd), first left
(Folkestone Rd) first Right (Eastbourne Rd) then on about 50 yds to
the corner with Paignton Ave.
- There's
a gateway more or less opposite across Paignton Avenue which leads to
an area of playing fields. Go through the gateway and watch out for
another gateway 15 yds or so on the left. The Scout Hut is through here,
on the right.
- Parking
is in front of the hut.
From the east:
- From
the A27, head down Eastern Rd (A2030) for about 2
miles past the Golf Driving Range on the right and Great Salterns Quay
on the left.
- Turn
right into Tangiers Rd.
- 1/3
mile on take the 1st right into Stanley Ave (becomes Cobden Ave).
- At
the T junction with Chesterfield Rd turn right, then right again into
Eastbourne Rd. You are now at the corner with Paignton Ave.
- Gateway
to park opposite, 20 yds along track, another gateway on left. Scout
Hut is on the right.
- There's
a gateway more or less opposite across Paignton Avenue which leads to
an area of playing fields. Go through the gateway and watch out for
another gateway 15 yds or so on the left. The Scout Hut is through here,
on the right.
- Parking
is in front of the hut.
